The Give-A-Little Giveaway

Who likes free stuff?

Who likes helping others?

If you answered I DO! to both of those questions, then this post is for YOU!

See?  It's easy!
Last week, I gave blood and I got to thinking about how nice it would be if I could spread the word about blood donation through my blog.  I'm a regular donor, giving about every 8 weeks when I'm eligible, and this last time I finally got to the 1 gallon mark at my local blood bank.

Did you know that the holiday season is especially hard on local blood supplies since many regular donors are too busy to donate?  In the U.S., at least, there is always a nation-wide blood-shortage  this time of year.  Did you also know that only 6% of eligible donors donate their blood on a regular basis?  That's a travesty!  It's time to step up to the plate, people!

I am so passionate about this cause that I'm willing to throw in an incentive.  I'm calling it

Here's how it's gonna go down:

1.  Give a little something!  I know that not everyone is eligible to give blood, so you can give anything.  Buy a toy and throw it in a Toys for Tots barrel.  Volunteer at a soup kitchen.  Sponsor a hungry child.  Join the National Marrow Registry.  Heck, throw some change into the Salvation Army bucket.  Be creative--every kind gesture counts!

2.  Tell me about it!  I'll be keeping track of everyone's good deeds throughout the next month.  You can either tweet me, post it here in the comments, or post it on my Facebook fan page (don't forget to click "like"!).  If you post a picture of you doing the good deed, I'll give you an extra entry.  Pictures are fun.  A picture of an "I gave blood" sticker like this one:

will give you another extra entry (that's THREE entries!).  Each good deed is another entry and the sky's the limit on how many times you can enter!*

3.  The Giveaway ends on December 20th at Midnight CST.  On December 21st, I'll post a video of me drawing a name out of a hat (or a bucket or whatever), revealing the name of the winner.  I'll also contact you through Blogger or FB or Twitter to let you know that you've won.

4.  One winner will receive a custom-made scarf, crocheted with love by ME!  You'll choose the color, length, and thickness.  I'm nice like that.  You'll have to give me a reasonable amount of time to finish the scarf and send it off to you, but I'll be as quick as I can about it.  I promise that the winner will have the cozy scarf around his or her neck before Spring arrives.

The scarf will look something like this:

Gosh, it's cozy!
Gosh, it's long (but it doesn't have to be)!

Is this the best giveaway EVER, or what?  I mean, just entering makes you feel good!  How many contests can you say that about?

Spread the word, and spread the love!  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

*No cheating.  I'm taking your word on this, guys.  If you lie about doing good deeds, you'll probably get some terrible painful disease anyway.  No liars.
